The caverns are nice and staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but there was a big issue for me. Since this place is located in the mountains of W.V., I was thinking that there should be plenty of gifts in the gift shop that are made right here in the good old U.S.A. However, that is not the case at all. When we realized that EVERYTHING we picked up in the gift shop was "made in china" we opted not to make any purchases and left. If you're looking for American made merchandise this is not the place for you and we will not be back.
Wonderful place to visit, they have a lot of things to do. Tour the caverns, gem mining, shopping, fishing, and good food.
What an amazing experience! Best place to stay in west virginia. Very kind staff with hiking trail maps and all other resources you may need while visiting at hand! Awesome gift shop and cute motel!

This motel resort is great and affordable, connected to the entrance of the caverns, a small putt-putt course in front of the rooms, and a huge 2-level gift shop. Not to confuse this Google map location labelled "Smoke Hole Caverns & Riverside Log Cabin Resort" with the other google map location 3 miles away labelled "Smoke Hole Resort" which is confusing where there is no phone reception when you can't call for directions when lost. I sent the correction suggestion and pics of the sign to Google Maps to see if they can correct it.
